Shimon' Update

Shimon continuing to blog on Esti's account...

As is her wont immediately after completing preliminary Brochos etc..., Esti went to the family blog only to find that no one had bothered to contribute a post since last Wednesday. Anxious to keep the momentum going, she prevailed upon me to jot down a word or two to move things along.

So, we a re recovering from Shabbos - during which we were tried on many fronts. First, our (other) world famous Chazzan was away for Shabbos, so every Yossele wannabe competed for top honours...The general consensus was that chalk on a blackboard is infinetly more preferrable to semi-literate Carelbach afficianados singing Kedusha to the tune of Uncle Moishy...

Worse, in deferrance to RL's desire to populate our Shabbos table with guests (like the traditional Malochim aren't enough) we again capitulated and entertained at lunch. The shul president (who is plotting his own impeachment) no less. Well...lunch turned into shalosh seudos...then into melave malka... Why do we do this? We don't even get a tax deduction for such mesiras nefesh!

Now, alas, we are back to the mundane world of the week. On tap today: decipher Esti's to-do list; offer support to RL who is doing school assignments well beyond my ken; organize the Parliamentary Dinner and Policy Conference, which is quickly approaching on February 5-6 (BTW, Avremi and Yossi: please email your mailing addresses and complimentary VIP invitations will be forwarded forthwith). Avremi, Asi Cohen (the priest interview) is doing a skit for the event. For those of you who don't know Israel's foremost comedian (after Ehud Olmert), you can check him out by going to You Tube and type in the key words "priest", "interview", "Israel", "comedy" in the search field. He is going to do an interview with Canada's Foreign Minister. I will either get a promotion (to exactly what, I don't know...) or fired! (That Shabbos hosting may come in handy...Bina Foundation "head's up").

Okay...now that I have convinced you all that I have precious little to do, I better head off and do it. Hope this stimulates greater minds to add a post or Postville...whatever. A gutte voch!

Wow, Shimon! Where to begin?

"general consensus was that chalk on a blackboard is infinetly more preferrable....."You make me so glad I didn't come for that particular Shabbos. Between that, and having to entertain all weekend, I have to say, my heart goes out to you (even though I laughed while reading your description:)

I'm so excited that Avremi (and Yossi?) will be at your "Event of the Year". I look foward to getting a close up and personal account of the evening.

keep 'em coming.....

I would have posted earlier but I guess even the blog goes through technical problems. All the same it is really nice to hear from you. I wish I had your talent to just write, maybe they have something called writing masters... Hey you never know
